With the Knicks winning just two of their last eight games with some incredibly incompetent coaching, I think I speak for a lot of Knicks fans when I say that it’s time for Tom Thibodeau to go.

The Knicks have faced some very tough opponents recently, but there are no excuses for how this team has lost. While you can’t blame Thibodeau for everything, his lack of really any offensive system, combined with the complete misutilization of certain players makes it difficult for me to want Thibodeau to stay.

The team is now 10-13 in a season in which the front office made moves to win and make the playoffs, and at this rate, neither of those will happen unless something changes. Whether it’s trading veterans, firing Thibodeau, or blowing it all up, we need to see something happen for the Knicks to see success this year.

Tom Thibodeau needs to be fired after Knicks’ embarrassing loss to Mavericks

This game was just flat-out awful to watch. Not only were the Knicks a total joke defensively, but the aforementioned lack of a competent offensive system absolutely killed any chance the team had of winning this game.

All game long, the Knicks had no answers for almost any player on the Mavericks, as the team hit an unbelievable 24 threes on a 39% clip. The record for most threes made in a game for a team is 29.

There were simply no answers for the Mavericks’ offense. Luka Doncic dropped 30 after a rough start, former Knick Tim Hardaway Jr. hit eight of his own threes in a 28-point performance, and despite a rough scoring output, Spencer Dinwiddie tore New York’s defense apart with his passing.

On the Knicks’ side of things, almost no one played particularly well. While Julius Randle scored 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, there were zero reasons for him to shoot eight threes. In addition to this, he also played horrid defense and overall was very questionable for most of the game.

Even Jalen Brunson, probably the only consistent player on the team, had an off game, dropping just 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field. RJ Barrett had 13 points as well on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and Quentin Grimes scored nine on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.

All around this was a rough game to watch. The only player I can say had anything close to a legitimately good game was Immanuel Quickley, who dropped an extremely efficient 23 points and six rebounds. Despite this, most of his points came in garbage time and he also racked up zero assists and four turnovers.

The offense was slow and had little-to-no movement and the defense was terrible. While you can only blame Thibodeau so much for the lack of effort defensively, his problems with running a competent offense have been an issue since he joined the team.

This was just a bad game in general and with many Knicks fans calling for Tom Thibodeau’s job, we could see a change made very soon.
