The New York Knicks will start their road trip Tuesday night against the unexpected, but impressive Utah Jazz.
A could have been “revenge game” for Donovan Mitchell is now a “is this the game that will get Tom Thibodeau fired?”
The Knicks’ current record is 6-7 after losing just an all-around awful and embarrassing game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, giving up 145 points. New York’s record is somewhat predictable at this stage, beating who they were supposed to and struggling against teams better than them. But the way the Knicks are losing is what is not acceptable, and all eyes are on Tom Thibodeau.
On the other hand, the Jazz are playing great team basketball and have a 10-5 record to show for it.
I must admit, I am writing this with zero to little confidence in this team but if they are going to win, they’ll need to defend the three-point shot. Let me just remind you that the Thunder entered Sunday ranked 29th in three-point field goal percentage. Versus the Knicks, they shot 17-of-31 for 55%, so defending the long ball might be a good idea for New York.
The Jazz appeared to have blown up their team this past offseason and entered the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes after trading their two All-Stars, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, for a plethora of draft picks. However, the Jazz are actually looking quite good and they are definitely fun to watch. They don’t have any real stars but that’s the beauty of it, just a team playing together night in and night out.
The two players the Knicks need to focus on are Lauri Markanhen, who is playing at a very high level and is averaging 21.8 points, and Jordan Clarkson, who can get hot at any point in the game. But in reality, the Knicks can’t take any opposing player lightly, as it seems like someone new is having a career night against them every game.

New York Knicks vs Utah Jazz Prediction
I’ll be honest here, I do not think the Knicks will win this game. In fact, I think this game will be the final straw for Leon Rose and once New York returns home after this road trip, Tom Thibodeau will be relieved of head coaching duties.
The Jazz ranking inside the top 10 in three-point field goal percentage scares me quite a bit, and I think New York will get exposed once again.
Utah 122, New York 112
