1: Say goodbye to Julius Randle and Evan Fournier

This is a trade that some Knicks fans may like and not because they’re interested in seeing Anthony Davis in New York. Why? Well, because Julius Randle and Evan Fournier are involved.

This is a deal that would work, but it’s a deal that neither team would likely ever do. The 3-10 Lakers need to do something to switch things up, but a whole new level of desperation would be reached if they traded one of their stars for two inconsistent veterans. That’s why five first-round picks are included in this trade scenario, and even then, this would still be a bizarre move for LA.

At this rate, the Knicks would be lucky if they swayed the Lakers to trade for Fournier, who has no reason to remain in New York. Even then, a trade would be difficult to pull off.

If the Knicks are interested in trading Fournier and/or Randle, this wouldn’t be the deal to pursue. Even the fans who are dissatisfied with Randle the most should want to see him remain in New York rather than be sent to LA along with multiple first-round picks for Anthony Davis.

Any deal involving Davis would hinder the Knicks’ future, so as Leon Rose is pondering what star to go after next, AD is a name that shouldn’t come to mind.
