The New York Knicks will head on over to Brooklyn to take on Kevin Durant and the Nets on Wednesday night for an interdivision matchup.

The Knicks stand at 5-5 after winning easily in Minnesota on Monday night and will look to try and continue their hot shooting and piece together a winning streak. The Brooklyn Nets are 4-7 and lost a nail-biter to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, so they will be looking to bounce back.

The Knicks have been outstandingly average this year so far with a .500 record to show it. However, they are coming off a strong road win where Julius Randle was looking like his vintage, most improved self. He scored 31 points and shot 8-for-13 from behind the arc, all while having a smile on his face.

The Knicks truly had fun playing basketball and boy, it just makes such a difference what confidence can do to a team. I really believe a lot of the guys look up to Randle in a way where if he is pouting or has his head down it translates to the rest of the team. When is he playing with good energy, it is just so contagious, and we saw that not only against Minnesota but in the 2020-2021 season as well.

Despite the Nets being in the headlines for non-basketball purposes, Kevin Durant is still focused and his play is showing it. He is averaging 31 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and shooting 51.6% from the field. He will be the obvious threat the Knicks need to hone in on, but even when you do guard him tough, he still scores.

It seems like it happens almost every other night where a role player on the opposing team gets his career-high against the Knicks because of wide-open threes that I could make. So, once again, if the Knicks want to win this game they will need to play perimeter defense and not just on Kevin Durant.

I am expecting both teams to play with a little extra juice in this “rivalry” with an expected loud crowd for both sides.

With Nic Claxton being the only real center the Nets have, I will be looking out to see some more Julius Randle and Obi Toppin coexisting lineups tonight, which will work out in New York’s favor.

I do think this game will hit the over as New York and Brooklyn are both in the bottom half of the NBA in terms of defensive rating, and Kevin Durant’s scoring ability will also help the cause.
