After losing by 15 points to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, the New York Knicks were on the other end of domination over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. Julius Randle tied his career-high with eight three-pointers for a game-high 31 points to lead the Knicks to a 120-107 win.

Minnesota was without Rudy Gobert, who entered health and safety protocols on Saturday. But before Gobert was out, the Timberwolves had lost three straight games against the Spurs, Suns, and Bucks. After losing to New York, Minnesota sits in 10th place in the West with a 5-6 record.

Maybe it’s because the Timberwolves fell to a Knicks team that’s been struggling, or maybe it’s because Minnesota hasn’t been off to the start that many expected, but after the loss, Anthony Edwards was brutally honest about how he views his team.

The 21-year-old shooting guard is in his third year in the league and was a key part of the Timberwolves’ run to the first round of the playoffs last season. After experiencing that success, Edwards isn’t pleased with how Minnesota’s looked to start the season.

Anthony Edwards calls Timberwolves ‘soft’ after blowout loss to Knicks

Anthony Edwards said that New York “exposed” how other teams around the league view Minnesota, which in his words, is “soft.”

The Knicks got to hear boos rain down in Target Center during the Timberwolves’ 11th game of the season. New York players know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of criticism from fans, but instead, it was Minnesota who once again found itself down by at least 20 points. And the Timberwolves’ next few games don’t look so promising, either. They’ll host the Suns before traveling to take on the Grizzlies and Cavaliers.

Minnesota made a major move this summer by trading for Rudy Gobert, which involved giving up four players and four first-round picks. Not to mention, that helped to set the bar for a Donovan Mitchell trade, which ultimately ended up being too high of a price for New York. The Timberwolves view the trade as a major win that has propelled them to a championship team, but clearly, they’re still working to gel things together. Lucky for them, there’s still plenty of time to turn things around.

Regardless, Knicks fans should feel good about their team breezing past the Timberwolves. It was a win that New York needed as the team prepares to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see another blowout win at Barclays Center with the Knicks on the side of victory, of course.
