The New York Knicks will host the Washington Wizards in their preseason finale on Friday night. New York’s coming off a 109-100 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. The latest odds have the Knicks favored against the Wizards.
Washington is 1-2 in the preseason, with both losses taking place in Japan against the Golden State Warriors. On Monday, however, the Wizards beat the Charlotte Hornets, 116-107, behind Kristaps Porzingis’ 20 points (5-for-10) in 16 minutes. Porzingis will be out for Friday’s contest due to rest. Bradley Beal missed the past two games due to a non-COVID illness, but according to Wes Unseld Jr., Beal will play against New York.
The Knicks’ depth was a positive for the team’s first two preseason games, but in the loss to the Pacers, the reserves struggled. RJ Barrett was his usual self and scored 21 points (7-for-14) in 27 minutes to go along with four rebounds and three assists while Julius Randle was the second-highest scorer with 13 points (5-for-10) in 25 minutes. Randle added eight rebounds and five assists.
The game will mark Taj Gibson’s return to The Garden after he was waived by the Knicks on July 8.
