The New York Knicks couldn’t have had a better start to the preseason after routing the Detroit Pistons, 117-96. Friday night marks the first of two times that the Knicks will face the Pacers in the next five days, as New York will travel to Indiana on Wednesday.

The Pacers began the preseason on Wednesday night with a 122-97 win over the Charlotte Hornets. Both the Pacers and Hornets should sit towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference in 2022-23, but Indiana shouldn’t be overlooked by New York.

Trade rumors were swirling around Myles Turner and Buddy Hield during the offseason, but both are still in Indiana. The Pacers traded for Tyrese Haliburton last year, who’s only 22. Indiana also has 20-year-old Bennedict Mathurin, who is one of the most electric players from the 2022 NBA Draft class.

Will the Knicks be able to knock off another Eastern Conference opponent in the preseason?

Cam Reddish sprained his ankle on Tuesday night, but he is available to play.

New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers Prediction

Like the Knicks, the Pacers had a dominating first win of the preseason, but Friday night’s contest won’t be as easy for Indiana.

Outside of the minutes that the starters don’t play, New York shouldn’t have an issue given the team’s depth. This game will likely be closer than the Knicks’ first preseason game, but New York should finish the night 2-0.

Knicks 107, Pacers 99.
