It’s been six years since Derrick Rose last played for the Chicago Bulls, and since then, he’s had two stints with the New York Knicks. Although he’s been on four different teams since leaving the Bulls, the 33-year-old was still a topic of conversation at Chicago’s Media Day.

Goran Dragic made his Media Day debut with the Bulls on Monday. The 36-year-old signed a one-year, $2.9 million contract with Chicago in August after playing in 16 games for the Brooklyn Nets in 2021-22.

During Dragic’s press conference, he was reminded about one play in particular that involved both him and Rose. It’s been 12 years since Rose put Dragic on a poster when he was with the Phoenix Suns, but time hasn’t erased the memory from Dragic’s mind.

Goran Dragic says now Knicks guard Derrick Rose’s 2010 dunk is his “nightmare”

Dragic was told by a reporter, “You’re kind of famous in Chicago from when Derrick Rose dunked on you.” Immediately, the guard jumped in with a smile on his face and said, “Yes, this is my nightmare. The funny thing is this was the only dunk that somebody dunked on me in my whole NBA career.”

Rose and Dragic were both drafted in 2008 with Rose being the No. 1 overall pick and Dragic being selected at No. 45. Both were in their second year whenever the infamous dunk happened, and it was surely a learning experience for Dragic.

It almost makes it worse that it’s the only time that Dragic’s been dunked on because perhaps that makes the moment stick out even more in his mind. Things have come full circle for Dragic now, though, as he’ll be suiting up for the Bulls in 2022-23.

Over in New York, Rose showed up to Media Day shirtless and proclaimed that he is “100 percent healthy” after missing the majority of last season with a nagging ankle injury.

In an Instagram post last year, Rose wrote that he doesn’t “dunk or jump high anymore” so Dragic seems to be safe from being put on a second poster by Rose, but man, wouldn’t it be something to see it happen again.
