2: Who will be the Knicks’ starting shooting guard?

This is a question that Knicks fans have been pondering throughout the offseason, especially after Quentin Grimes put on a stellar performance in Summer League. Ian Begley reported that there were concerns about a Jalen Brunson-Evan Fournier backcourt, which has led many to believe that Grimes will be starting at the two for New York. Unlike Fournier, Grimes is a force on the defensive end.

On top of that, Fournier’s name was caught up in Donovan Mitchell trade rumors, while Grimes was reportedly off limits. As Begley noted in his mailbag, the Knicks need shooting, so it might not be the best idea for the team to part ways with the 29-year-old just yet, but Begley included Grimes in what he believes will be New York’s starting lineup.

On Media Day, Tom Thibodeau isn’t going to outright reveal who will be starting for the Knicks, but he’s reportedly fond of Grimes. One of the coach’s answers may hint at who’s projected to be the starting shooting guard, though.

On Oct. 19, let’s all hope that it’ll be Grimes who will be in the starting lineup with Fournier coming off the bench.
