After what’s felt like a never-ending New York Knicks offseason, the 2022-23 season is finally around the corner. Before New York travels to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies, the Knicks will host Media Day and then kick off training camp in a matter of days.

Last season, New York fell short of the play-in tournament after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 37-45 record. During the summer, the Knicks added Jalen Brunson and Isaiah Hartenstein to their roster and parted ways with Kemba Walker, Alec Burks, and Nerlens Noel.

New York didn’t trade for Donovan Mitchell, and instead, he was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Nevertheless, the Knicks are expected to have a better season in 2022-23, but it’s not going to come without its challenges. However, there’s a lot to look forward to, such as RJ Barrett possibly earning his first All-Star honor and although it seems like a long shot, New York could find its way back to the postseason.

For now, it’s time to turn our attention to Media Day and training camp.

When is 2022 Knicks Media Day?

Per Marc Stein (subscription required), New York will hold Media Day on Monday, Sept. 26. There was controversy during the offseason about the media not being invited to hear from Jalen Brunson after he signed with New York in free agency. The same thing happened in regards to RJ Barrett after he signed his four-year, $120 million extension. In two days, the media will get their chance to ask their juicy questions.

Barrett will undoubtedly be asked about being included in trade proposals, Brunson will be asked about the ongoing tampering investigation, and Julius Randle will be prodded about how he feels entering the new season.

When does 2022 Knicks training camp start?

On Friday, the Knicks announced that they waived M.J. Walker and Quinton Rose. The team’s two-way spots are filled by 2022 No. 42 draft pick Trevor Keels and Feron Hunt, who impressed at Summer League.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, training camp will open.

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, New York will play its first preseason game against the Detroit Pistons.

The 2022-23 season is so close, Knicks fans. It’s almost time.
