1: Knicks have the most to offer the Jazz

It doesn’t matter where else Danny Ainge looks, but the answer’s been right in front of him for months now. The Knicks have the most to offer the Jazz in a trade for Donovan Mitchell.

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic (subscription required), the Jazz “value” RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, and Obi Toppin. As mentioned, trading for Barrett has become complicated, but New York should be extremely hesitant about trading both Grimes and Toppin. Based on reports, the Knicks are likely more willing to part ways with Toppin.

Knowing Ainge, he’s asking for Grimes and Toppin to both be included in a deal, but even if that doesn’t happen (and it shouldn’t), Utah can’t get a better deal elsewhere. Hence why the Jazz don’t have traction with teams other than the Knicks.

Ainge hasn’t been able to get what he’s looking for, but perhaps that’s because the asking price that he’s set is unreasonable. It’s past time for him to act on the fact that New York has the most to offer.

Knicks and Jazz fans should be able to agree about wanting this saga to come to an end. Come on, let’s make Donovan Mitchell to New York official, please.
