In recent days, the New York Knicks announced that their personnel will be in attendance at the Mets-Dodgers game. It’ll be hosted at Citi Field for what has been dubbed “Knicks Night”.

What will be a great night for baseball will also include a fun night commemorating one of the world’s most iconic teams.

At the bottom of the team’s Twitter post, it includes that there will be a “special Knicks appearance” at the game.

Who could be the special appearance at Knicks Night at Citi Field on Tuesday?

There are endless possibilities when it comes to who the special appearance for Knicks Night could be. It could end up being the latest Knicks signees Jalen Brunson or Isaiah Hartenstein (maybe even both) to throw out the first pitch at the game on Tuesday evening.

New York could also bring along a Knicks legend to represent them for Knicks night. Potentially seeing current color analyst Walt “Clyde” Frazier attend the game would make for a fun evening.

When it comes to Knicks legends or notable players, there are so many to choose from, which makes it impossible to guess who it could be.

If the Knicks were going to bring one of their current players or a legend, it would be likely that it would have been announced by now (unless they truly wanted to aggravate the fans).

As all fans likely know at this point, the Knicks have been in talks with the Utah Jazz over the last couple of months to acquire star guard Donovan Mitchell.

If fans were to follow Mitchell on Twitter, they would see that he has been in New York for some time over the summer, appearing at Rucker Park and even having his own “Donovan Mitchell Night” at a Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game.

Most importantly, fans would have seen that he frequently tweets about the Mets and attends many of their games in the NBA offseason.

Donovan Mitchell could be the Knicks Night special appearance if he’s traded

If this proves to be true, it would mean that Mitchell has officially been traded. As much as I hate to get hopes up, the Knicks would name-drop the special appearance in any situation outside of a trade that hasn’t been officially announced yet.

Chances are that if it was anyone else, New York would have announced it by now. The fact that Mitchell is a huge Mets fan and his dad works for the organization turns many heads and makes Mitchell stand out as the special appearance at Knicks Night.

There was speculation that Jalen Brunson and Mitchell met up at one of the Subway Series games. No photos were seen of them together but coincidentally they were both there.

For fans, this could be the end-all of the trade speculation at Knicks Night or it could continue to stir the pot as talks continue.

Hopefully, this will be a pleasant surprise for us all, but if the trade doesn’t happen, it won’t be the end of the world. Leon Rose has his ways and will make the right decision when it is all said and done, regardless of what happens leading up to Knicks Night.
