4. New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks (Nov. 2)

The Knicks might play the Nets during Rivals Week, but there’s a certain amount of beef against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks that even Brooklyn can’t match.

Last year, when New York opened at home with a win over Boston, the home crowd was sure to let Boston supporters hear it.

But chants quickly turned profanity-laced toward Trae Young, showing New York’s disdain to the superstar from ‘The A.’

The two sides face off twice in New York, but this one’s the first time of the season, which is why I chose it over the Dec. 7 matchup.

The hatred over Trae Young is more so with the fans than it is with the players, which is why it makes for over-the-top television. You don’t have to tell a Knicks fan to get amped for this game. It’s just bound to happen.

I like how the NBA made sure to schedule it for this early in the season too. They’re making sure to draw in fans from the start, and it’s going to work. Knicks fans and NBA fans, in general, have been waiting all summer for basketball to return, so why not place a New York vs. Atlanta game on the schedule for Nov. 2?
