What could Julian Edelman, a three-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots, possibly have against the New York Knicks? The 36-year-old retired from the NFL in the 2021 offseason after a 12-year career, and since then, he’s had his fair share of interviews.

Edelman and Sam Morril (a Knicks fan) dropped the first episode of their new podcast, Games With Names, this week. FanSided’s Aryanna Prasad recently interviewed the podcast duo, and to no surprise, the Knicks came up in their conversation.

The former wide receiver wanted to sit courtside at a game in New York, but James Dolan reportedly stopped that from happening.

Julian Edelman has a grudge against James Dolan and the Knicks

Edelman said: “I have a personal vendetta to the Knicks because I was supposed to go see a Knicks game and I heard that Mr. Dolan wouldn’t let me come sit on the court. I thought it was all love here and there, and then I get axed from something. How are you going to ax me?”

Morril chimed in and said: “I think it’s a sign of respect, Julian. You’re a Boston sports legend. They’re not going to hook you up with floor seats at a Knicks game. And by the way, you’d probably get showered with boos because you were a great player. That’s respect in New York.”

Edelman didn’t seem to be satisfied with that answer, although Morril was spot on. The former Patriot can always go and sit courtside at TD Garden and watch New York take on Boston, but you can’t blame him for wanting to sit courtside at the real Garden.

Edelman should know that sports fans in New York aren’t going to give him the red carpet treatment. Morril said that at a comedy event, a doorman claimed to be “a huge fan” and asked to take a picture with Edelman, but as the picture was being taken, he said, “go Giants!”

New York sports fans hate Boston sports fans and vice versa. We’re sorry that you weren’t able to sit courtside at the best arena in the world, Julian, but hey, you should be sure to catch a few Knicks games on television this season. We hear that they’re going to be pretty decent.
