2. Getting the Knicks’ West Coast road trip out of the way early

Starting on Nov. 15, the Knicks are scheduled to play a few games out West. In recent years, it wasn’t until the end of the season when New York would head out there. By getting it out of the way early, the Knicks will have the rest of the season to get themselves together.

Last season, the Knicks were six games under .500 when they headed West. Heading back to the Garden having won just one of the five games, it sunk the nail in the coffin for New York’s chances at the playoffs.

Having this slate of games early on is good for two reasons. The first is that the Knicks’ schedule does not have another long road trip out to the West Coast, so travel won’t be a huge issue following this road trip.

And the second is that most teams are still getting themselves together early in the season, especially in November. The Knicks’ schedule could allow them to capitalize and steal some games early on.

Changing time zones can be frustrating for a minimal amount of time on the West Coast, but it’s good to get these games out the way early for New York.

If it doesn’t work in their favor, it’s only November and with a less difficult schedule going forward, the Orange and Blue will do just fine.
