14 former Knicks from the 90s that can’t stay away from the game

11. Hubert Davis

A year after picking up Greg Anthony, in 1992, the Knickerbockers drafted Hubert Davis. Known as a sharpshooter in the Garden, Davis still holds the highest single-season three-point percentage in Knicks history. In the 1995-96 season, Davis came off the bench and shot the three-ball at 47%!

He was even better in the playoffs that season, increasing his percentage to 52%. One of his most famous moments as a Knick came in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Semifinals. After a questionable foul was called against Scottie Pippen, Davis went to the line and made two free throws to win the game. New York went on to win that series in seven games.

Currently, Davis is enjoying a budding career at his alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This past season, Davis led the Tar Heels to the national championship in his first season as head coach, and they are favored to win it all this upcoming season.

10. Greg Anthony

In 1991, New York selected Greg Anthony from UNLV with the No. 12 overall pick. He was known for his tough defense under the coaching of Pat Riley. Anthony fit in well with the identity of the Knicks, as in the 90s they were known to not give up any layups. He was one of the key pieces to the team’s NBA Finals run in 1994.

Just like fellow point guard Mark Jackson, Anthony is now an analyst as well as a co-host. He is a college basketball analyst and hosts a show on SiriusXM NBA radio. You may know his son too, Orlando Magic point guard Cole Anthony.

9. Pat Riley

Pat Riley coached the Knicks in the early 90s before Jeff Van Gundy arrived. Riley has been President of the Miami Heat for decades, winning a few championships in the meantime. Maybe New York should have kept him!
