1. LeBron James

I know, I know. But all I’m really saying is, LeBron’s left town before to play with other young superstars, so who’s saying he wouldn’t do it next year to finish his career out with the Knicks?

One thing would be certain – James would not need to be paid a max contract. He would take a break on his deal, likely on a one-year contract, to help New York save room for key components off the bench.

Most Knicks fans probably wouldn’t want this. After all, James has toyed with the franchise for years. Why should they want him to come now, as his career winds down to an end?

Well, because if you truly want to win a championship, most of the time it requires some sacrifice.

I could think of worse things than putting up with LeBron James on the roster.

What’s the likelihood of James actually joining New York? Probably not high. But Donovan Mitchell is one of the few young stars who I think James would want to share the court with in his final years in the league. He’s a springy, high-energy, and competitive guard that would flourish alongside LeBron.

It might seem outlandish, but it’s not impossible.
