3. Jerami Grant

A former Syracuse star playing for the Knicks hasn’t been the worst thing that’s happened in the history of the franchise.

Grant was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers from the Detroit Pistons on June 22 and he has barely even been on his new team for a month. But the NBA moves quickly and nothing is ever off the table.

The biggest prospect of bringing Grant into New York would be for his ability to replace Julius Randle at power forward, while likely taking fewer dollars and accepting his role in a better manner.

Heading into his ninth NBA season, Grant never turned from a promising role player to a legitimate offensive threat with Detroit. Although his numbers dipped a bit after Cade Cunningham came to the Motor City, Grant put up a career-high 22.3 points per game in 2020-21.

He also fits the mold of Tom Thibodeau’s style of play. The lengthy power forward can defend multiple positions and isn’t a ball-stopper on offense. Anyone who keeps the game flowing on both sides is a great addition to have.

While Grant may not be the superstar caliber player that Knicks fans want to play alongside Mitchell, he could be an important piece of a team hunting for an NBA Championship.
