5: Immanuel Quickley

It’s fitting that Immanuel Quickley is up right after Grimes. One of the two are going to likely be included in a possible trade for Mitchell, and the consensus seems to be that fans would rather see IQ go.

Now that New York has its new point guard in Jalen Brunson, Quickley could be viewed as expendable. He’d continue to be a spark off the bench for the Knicks in 2022-23, but if Mitchell’s going to be on the team, New York will have less of a need for Quickley.

He recently turned 23 and like Obi, he finished strong this past season. And if IQ would’ve been given more playing time over Alec Burks (which is what should’ve happened), perhaps fans would be even more attached to him.

Look at the success that Tyrese Maxey’s had in Philadelphia. Quickley could be on a similar path if he would’ve been granted more time on the court.

The IQ-Obi duo is a whole lot of fun, so if one of them goes and the other was to stay, it’d be sad to have them split up. But GMs don’t make deals based on the feelings of fans.
