On Tuesday, the New York Knicks made Jalen Brunson’s signing official, 12 days after the two sides agreed to a four-year, $104 million deal. The 25-year-guard will wear No. 11 for the Knicks.

It was thought that maybe New York would execute a sign-and-trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks, but instead, the Mavericks let Brunson go for nothing. A tampering charge could be on the horizon for the Knicks, but making the case for that will be difficult.

Leon Rose got his guy, but more importantly, New York has its point guard. The days of watching Alec Burks run point are in the rearview mirror.

Knicks officially sign point guard Jalen Brunson to a four-year, $104 million deal

Here’s what Rose had to say:

"“We are beyond thrilled to add Jalen Brunson to our organization,” said Knicks president Leon Rose. “He’s a competitor, a leader, and playmaker, and most importantly a winner. His addition is a perfect complement to the team that we are building and the culture we are establishing.”"

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed by the team, but The Athletic’s Fred Katz released the reported details of Brunson’s contract:

That’s not a bad deal at all. Brunson’s represented by CAA’s Aaron Mintz and Sam Rose (otherwise known as Leon’s son).

That’s Sam in the background. The Brunson and Rose families go way back, and now things have come full circle.

The 2022-23 season is three months away, and as of right now, New York’s best starting lineup would be Brunson, Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson.

But shortly after the Brunson signing was announced by the Knicks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Utah Jazz have ‘shown a willingness’ to listen to trade offers for Donovan Mitchell. And reportedly, the belief is that New York’s scrambling to put together a package, so the starting lineup could look much different than expected.

New York’s making moves, and with the Brunson signing settled, don’t take your eyes off the Knicks.
