2: Nerlens Noel

Nerlens Noel re-signed with the Knicks on a three-year, $32 million deal last summer, but a foot injury limited him to 25 games in 2021-22. With Jericho Sims, as well as other center options in free agency, New York could part ways with Noel on draft night.

Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer recently said on his podcast that Noel “is one of the players that the Knicks are the most active in discussing right now.” Even if Mitchell Robinson doesn’t re-sign, it seems as if New York’s ready to part ways with Noel.

There’s been a lot said about the Knicks’ No. 11 pick, and rightfully so, but they also hold the No. 42 pick in the second round, which could be used to select a center.

It’s safe to say that Noel is on the outs. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to do more this past season, but the front office should thank him for his role in helping New York get to the playoffs in 2021 and move on. If he needs to be thrown into a deal to sweeten it the slightest bit, then so be it. There’s no reason for Noel to be on the Knicks’ roster in 2022-23.
