The overwhelming consensus from the 2021-22 New York Knicks’ season was that the club remains a couple of key pieces away from true and reoccurring relevancy. The Knicks looked caught with their tails between their legs when point guards Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose ended up sidelined, which lead to some pretty noticeable weaknesses in New York’s rotation.
With the draft steadily approaching, that feeling of enthusiasm and anticipation has begun to creep into the hearts of basketball fans. And, at the epicenter of those feelings, is a plethora of trade rumors that could change the fate of the NBA for years to come.
One team that has caught a lot of offseason attention so far is the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls had a historic turnaround of their roster recently, starting with the rise of Zach LaVine, followed by big-name acquisitions such as DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, and Lonzo Ball.
Despite hopes of reaching the conference finals and beyond, injuries and first-year adjustments saw Chicago underachieve, finishing in sixth place and losing to the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs.
Could Coby White become the New York Knicks’ newest point guard?
Now, as eager as ever to reach their potential, reports about the futures of many players have come to fruition. Most recently, trade talks surrounding Coby White and the 18th overall pick have gained some traction.
With the Knicks in need of a change at their primary ball handler position, White could be a strong young talent for New York to take a gamble on.
If the Knicks truly were interested in acquiring the guard, there are two possible scenarios I could foresee the clubs pursuing in hopes of reaching an agreement.
