Immanuel Quickley gives advice to Knicks draft prospect TyTy Washington Jr.

Immanuel Quickley wrapped up his second season in the NBA a couple of months ago, and while he’s now busy preparing for what’s to come in 2022-23, the New York Knicks guard has also helped guide his friend TyTy Washington Jr.

Quickley and Washington share a special connection, which is the University of Kentucky. The Knicks’ current roster consists of three former Wildcats in Quickley, Julius Randle, and Nerlens Noel. And then there’s Obi Toppin, who although he attended Dayton, also has ties to Kentucky because of his younger brother Jacob Toppin, who’s a forward for the Wildcats.

Washington was one of a few players who worked out for New York on Monday, and when he spoke with the media, he said that he and his college teammates have referred to the Knicks as ‘Kentucky 2.0.’

In ESPN’s latest mock draft (subscription required), Washington is predicted to go No. 18 to the Chicago Bulls. If New York doesn’t decide to trade up in the draft to go after a target like Jaden Ivey, Washington will most likely still be on the board when the Knicks make their pick at No. 11.

Quickley very well could end up welcoming his friend Washington into New York’s locker room following the draft on June 23. But in the meantime, Quickley’s acting as a resource for the 20-year-old draft prospect.

Washington said that he knows IQ on a personal level and that the two talk “a bunch.” He also mentioned how Quickley and Tyrese Maxey have both been present in Lexington to play in 1-on-1 and 5-on-5 games with some Kentucky players. Washington said that he wasn’t able to beat Quickley or Maxey 1-on-1, but that his 5-on-5 squad beat their team.

The guard didn’t see Quickley on Monday, but he did get the opportunity to connect with Toppin.

Outside of his relationship with Quickley, Washington mentioned that he and Jacob Toppin have been labeled as ‘Obi Toppin and Immanuel Quickley 2.0’ on social media. Knicks fans know that’s a pretty high compliment.

With the draft being a little over two weeks away, Washington’s going to stay busy. In the coming days, he will work out with the Pelicans, Spurs, Cavaliers, and Wizards. Quickley’s the most recent guard that New York drafted out of Kentucky, and who knows, perhaps Washington will be the next one.
