What a trade could look like
At its focal point, both teams may explore a way to swap picks in the draft that would see New York climb ahead of Washington. It may not seem like moving up one pick would hold significant value, but if you’re a Knicks fan, you’ve grown accustomed to the scheduled tweet about how New York missed out on Stephen Curry by one pick in 2009.
This time, the Knicks may be the ones to move up and acquire the player they desire, rather than letting the rest of the league decide for them.
Although the pick swap would be the epicenter of this trade, the players that the trade would involve would be the headline of this draft day blockbuster.
This may be the perfect opportunity for New York to offload a disgruntled former All-Star in Randle for an adequate haul of assets. The Wizards acquired wings Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from the Lakers in the Russell Westbrook trade last year. Kuzma, in his lone season with the franchise, saw a statistical leap in his game despite the struggles of the team.
A potential trade I could see both franchises entertaining would involve Randle and the 11th pick going to Washington, while the Knicks would acquire a package starting with Kuzma, Caldwell-Pope, and the 10th pick in the draft.
