Knicks should consider trading for point guard Collin Sexton during offseason

The New York Knicks have been searching for a point guard for quite some time, and while many are confident that their young, explosive, homegrown Immanuel Quickley can do the job, there’s no reason for them to stop looking at external options.
Many names have been suggested for that position, such as Damian Lillard, Ricky Rubio, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, and Jalen Brunson, along with several over names from the upcoming draft. However, one that has gained steam in recent days is forgotten Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton.
Should Collin Sexton be the next point guard for the New York Knicks?
With the emergence of All-Star Darius Garland as the lead guard in Cleveland, Sexton is seemingly the odd man out, and with some expiring contracts on the Knicks, this is a move that could work for both teams, as they both aim to have a spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture moving forward.
It’s not going to be an easy one to pull off, as both teams have needs that must be addressed to take that next step, but Cleveland and New York could help each other. If the Knicks are genuinely interested as rumors suggest, it would be a great way to round out New York’s starting lineup.
HoopsHype has talked about this exact possibility and while the Knicks are certainly in the running to bring Sexton in via a sign-and-trade, which, while a great possibility, won’t be easy.
Sexton has talked about wanting to remain in Cleveland and the rumors are that he would command starting point guard money. If New York thinks that a combination of Sexton, Quickley, RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, and a center (whether it be Mitchell Robinson or someone else) can improve the team and the young core, then it would make sense for the Knicks.
