The 2022 NBA Draft Lottery has come and gone and once again the “Patrick Ewing curse” was in full effect. The New York Knicks have not received the No.1 pick in the draft since 1985 and on Monday night that did not change.
When the No.11 pick was announced, I am sure fans were hoping that the Knicks would not be said but their prayers were not answered. New York remained stuck with the No.11 pick, but what did everyone expect?
The Knicks had a 77.6% chance of receiving the No.11 pick and a 2% chance of getting the No. 1 pick. I did not expect a miracle to happen.
The Orlando Magic won the No. 1 pick, the Oklahoma City Thunder received the No. 2 pick, and the Houston Rockets got the No. 3 pick.
Although it is a downer that New York did not move up in the draft, the Knicks can still get a solid pick at No.11. Jeremy Sochan of Baylor University would be a good selection for New York. He is good on defense and decent on offense, as he averaged 9.2 points a game for Baylor in his freshman year.
Twitter reacts to the Knicks staying put at No. 11 in draft lottery
New York fans have never been shy about voicing their opinions when their team is concerned. After their team was announced with the No.11 selection, they took to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
Surprisingly the reactions to staying put in the NBA Draft were mixed. Here are some of the best reactions to the Knicks’ unlucky draft streak continuing.
This user summed it up. It hurts to go 18 straight lotteries without moving up once. But one year there will be a change, right?
Moving up would have been great for New York, but the bright side is that the team didn’t fall. The Knicks could have fallen in the draft like the Portland Trailblazers, but luckily for fans that did not happen.
This user has a point. Fans should not have expected this lottery to be any different from the others.
Each year fans watch the draft lottery with high hopes and each year they are left disappointed. But despite not moving up, New York fans should not feel too bad about getting the No.11 pick because the Knicks could end up getting a steal in the draft.
