New York Knicks dud: Alec Burks

Alec Burks played a team-high 40 minutes on Wednesday versus the Hornets. In the large amount of playing time he received, he added minimal production to the game.

The Knicks veteran finished the game with a -10 while chucking up 13 threes and only connecting on four of them. Burks added 12 points, along with 12 rebounds, but four crucial turnovers hindered New York’s hopes of winning the game.

Alec Burks isn’t fit to be the New York Knicks’ point guard.

The Knicks will have to decide if they want to bring back the 30-year-old wing this offseason, especially if the team brings in a new point guard. There’s a chance that he could be traded in the coming months, but it could end up being a mistake.

When Derrick Rose got injured in mid-December, Burks’ role changed from backup wing to starting point guard and he’s struggled immensely. He’s best suited coming off the bench as a scoring threat. After all, he was one of New York’s best players off the bench last season, but it seems like Thibodeau’s forgotten about that.
