The New York Knicks are closing out their road trip on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. The 32-42 Knicks are in 11th place in the East and the 20-54 Pistons are in 14th.

New York beat Miami (for the first time since 2017), 111-103, on Friday. Immanuel Quickley led the Knicks with 23 points (6-of-12) off the bench. RJ Barrett (5-of-17) finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Detroit fell to Washington on Friday, 100-97. Marvin Bagley III scored 25 points (10-of-16) off the bench and Cade Cunningham had 22 (11-of-22) for the Pistons.

New York’s 2-0 against Detroit this season. The two teams last played on Dec. 29, where the Knicks finished with a 94-85 win. Alec Burks tied his career-high with 34 points (12-of-17).

Will the young core lead New York to its third-straight win?

New York Knicks injury report

Quentin Grimes (knee), Derrick Rose (ankle), Cam Reddish (shoulder), Nerlens Noel (foot), and Kemba Walker (away from the team) will be out for the Knicks. Randle (quad) is listed as questionable.

New York Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons prediction

It seems like Tom Thibodeau might finally have it figured out, which is partly because Randle’s been out for the past three games. New York’s rolling. I know that it’s just been two wins, but if you watched those games, you know exactly what I mean.

Although the Pistons recently beat the Hawks, I believe that the Knicks will return to NYC with another win under their belt. The game doesn’t mean anything for either team in terms of the playoffs, but at least fans will get to enjoy watching young talent go head-to-head.

Even though Detroit will be without its leading scorer Jerami Grant, who averages 19.2 points per game, I’m going with the over since it’s at 218.

We’re taking the Knicks -4 and over 218.5 points.

New York 116, Detroit 109.
