2. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Knicks. Even after Kristaps Porzingis was dealt to Washington, the Mavericks are still the No.1 home for former Knicks. Dallas currently employs:

  • Tim Hardaway Jr. (2013–2015, 2017–2019)
  • Trey Burke (2017–2019)
  • Frank Ntilikina (2017–2021)
  • Reggie Bullock (2019–2021)
  • Theo Pinson (2020–2021)

New York’s most recent departures to the Mavericks have had a little more sting to them. Ntilikina was another lottery pick and fan favorite that just didn’t work out. Bullock was the Knicks’ best shooter during their playoff run and an important glue guy. And Pinson may have been the secret sauce to New York’s good vibes last season.

Some New York fans will be rooting against Dallas, as Jalen Brunson seems to be the Knicks’ top target in free agency this offseason. The recent acquisition of Spencer Dinwiddie makes Brunson more expendable, but it looks like the Mavericks want to keep Brunson as much as New York reportedly wants to acquire him.

Success in Dallas bodes well for Brunson wanting to stick around. However, no matter how far the team goes this postseason, the presence of Luka Doncic prohibits the Mavericks from offering what the Knicks can – primary ball-handling responsibilities.

We know the connections between Brunson and New York, and no matter what happens the Knicks will bring out all the stops for a sign-and-trade deal, which would result in Dallas having even more former Knicks on the roster. Oh, and the Mavericks are reportedly interested in Mitchell Robinson.

No matter what happens over the summer, the carousel between New York and Dallas appears it’ll keep on spinning. And once a Knick, always a Knick. #OAKAAK
