Alright, New York, here we go. Knicks fans have been dreaming about Purdue sophomore combo guard Jaden Ivey for the past few months, and for a good reason.

The 20-year-old is averaging 17.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the 33 games that he’s played in for the Boilermakers this season. He’s shooting 46.2% from the field, 35.6% from the 3-point line, and 73.5% from the free-throw line.

Will Jaden Ivey be the New York Knicks’ answer at point guard?

Fans have had their eyes on Ivey because he’s one of the most exciting guards in college basketball. At six-foot-four with a nearly six-foot-ten wingspan, his athleticism and quickness pays off on both ends of the court. He’s an excellent on-ball defender.

Ivey’s shooting improved from last year to this year (especially his perimeter shooting) but he’s best when he pulls up in the paint. To be an effective guard at the professional level, he’s going to need to continue to work on his long shot.

In ESPN’s recent mock draft, Ivey’s slotted to go No. 4 to Indiana. If he’s still available when the Knicks make their pick, improving his playmaking and ball-handling abilities will be a must. Nonetheless, he has a ton of potential and could develop into the point guard that New York so desperately needs.

Ivey and No. 3 Purdue will take on No. 14 Yale on Friday, Mar. 18 at 2:00 p.m. ET on TBS.
