Similar to Quickley, Julius Randle’s 2021-22 season has been filled with inconsistency. His field goal percentage has dipped from 46% to 42% while his three-point percentage has dropped from 41% to 31%.

Even in the victory against Los Angeles, he remained inconsistent and finished with a mere 10 points on 4-of-16 shooting.

However, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that he’s been directly responsible for the Knicks’ past two wins. Against the Sacramento Kings, he finished with career highs of 46 points as well as eight 3-pointers.

He carried that momentum into Wednesday night’s matchup with Dallas, finishing with a team-leading 26 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists (compared to just two turnovers).

While there will likely be some questions regarding Randle’s future in New York this offseason, performances such as these are always impactful no matter what happens.

If they intend to keep him, his recent improved play could be a great sign that he’s building power for a bounce-back year.

If they intend to trade him, high-scoring efforts such as his night in Sacramento would increase his value in a potential deal and cause a team to give up a first-round pick (or two).

Either way, it’s impossible to ignore the superb performances from Randle and the team likely wouldn’t be on their current winning streak without his recent stretch of play.
