New York Knicks Player of the Week: February 25th-March 3rd
By John Azzato
Runner-up: Evan Fournier
Let me be clear – This isn’t an endorsement of Fournier’s play this week. If anything, it’s an indication of how terrible of a week it was for New York.
To be fair, Fournier’s been a solid scoring option for the Knicks this year. He’s averaging 14 points on the season and has certainly come up with some clutch buckets throughout the year. However, this week just wasn’t great for New York and Fournier was no exception.
The 29-year-old’s only noteworthy performance was in the first game against the 76ers. Fournier scored 24 points, making nine of his 16 field goals. He also made six of his 11 three-pointers, which is not shocking considering Fournier’s been the Knicks’ best outside shooter this season.
Outside of that performance, he only made six of his 24 field goal attempts taken in the other two games.
To summarize, this has been a dismal week for the New York (as if we fans needed another reminder). The season has seemingly had a black cloud over it for the past month and the only bright side as of late is the play of Barrett. Although we did award the runner-up to Fournier, there truly wasn’t anyone deserving of it.
What do you think Knicks fans? Was anyone more deserving than Barrett? Let us know @DailyKnicksFS.
