The New York Knicks have young talent

Earlier I mentioned two times the Knicks trotted out Rosters that were just flat-out depressing.  There was basically nothing fun outside of Mitchell Robinson.

First of all, the Knicks are not that bad anymore. Secondly, they have young guys with actual potential.

We’re quite familiar with the three of RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, and Immanuel Quickley, but there is so much youth on this roster. Deuce McBride is also a fun prospect, but there’s Quinten Grimes.

The Knicks got an absolute steal with drafting Quinten Grimes 25th overall. At times, Grimes looks like he was drafted in the lottery. Grimes is already shooting 40% from three on the season.

Grimes has had sporadic minutes because Tom Thibodeau has zero idea how to run rotations, but he’s been averaging 8 points on efficient numbers since 2022 began.

The Cam Reddish trade is also something to still be excited about.  Cam is young and has hardly played because Thibs hates young people, like why in the world does Taj Gibson play more minutes than him?  I get that the depth at center is not great, but just run small-ball and play Obi there since the Knicks are wasting his talents.

Taj is old, and he does not need to take minutes from guys who could help this team succeed for the next 10 years.  Also, this is not me throwing shade at Taj.  I have, and always will, stan Taj Gibson. However, his coach has lost his mind.

To close out what became a Thibs rant, RJ Barrett and Grimes are 21, Obi is 24, IQ and Cam Reddish are 22, Deuce McBride is 20, Mitch is still only 23.  These guys have all shown promise, real NBA promise.  Things will keep improving.
