Will Immanuel Quickley win a 6th MOTY award?

Immanuel Quickley is another player that has been performing far under expectations, but again, it has a lot to do with the Knicks being forced to play guys out of their positions.

He’s one of the many players that was directly impacted by Derrick Rose’s injury and it’s showing.

But he’s also shown many flashes in his own right of being capable of becoming not only a true Point Guard himself one day but also a realistic 6th Man of the Year candidate.

Now, I’m not one of those guys who paints IQ into a box and says he’s nothing more than a Lou Williams copycat, because he’s not.

He’s so much more than that.

Quickley has shown glimpses of being capable of leading an offense, he just needs more time.
He’s improved dramatically on the defensive side of the ball this year also.

Lately, he’s had more blunders but that’s what comes with growing pains in the NBA and is just something we need to deal with for the time being.

But until he proves his worthiness as a legitimate facilitator, I’d love to keep him as one of the first guys off the bench and in leading the second unit.

The scoring punch he provides when he’s on his A-game and is playing alongside someone else who can handle the playmaking responsibilities is sometimes unmatched by anyone else on the team.

Last year, IQ won games for the Knicks. This year, not so much, but it’s coming.
