Should the NY Knicks pursue Goran Dragic?

If the New York Knicks intend on still pursuing the playoffs, then Goran Dragic may be a great piece to bargain for.

The Toronto Raptors have been making strives towards a playoff berth of their own (7th in East), but not with Dragic playing any role.

Both the team and Dragic have been uninterested in the former all-star seeing playing time after being dealt to Toronto in the Kyle Lowry trade, leading to multiple DNP’s for the point guard.

After months of waiting, it looks like Dragic will finally be getting a rotation spot once he is shipped to another team at the deadline.

If that team is the Knicks, then Dragic would be a welcome addition to a team desperate for shooting, shot-making, and playmaking.

While he isn’t what he used to be, Dragic should be more than competent in running the show as a lead guard.

He would also be automatically one of the most experienced players on the roster, having been a big part of the Miami Heat’s Finals appearance two seasons ago.

A player who was such an influential figure in the Heat’s success on the court and in the locker room could help inspire this Knicks team to play better post-all-star break.

And if New York fails to accomplish this, they will at least have Dragic’s $18 million salary coming off of the books at season’s end.

I think Kemba Walker and Alec Burks once again is the price to pay, but this time New York would also need to add a first-round pick.

Let’s draw this trade up as Burks, Walker, and the 2023 Dallas FRP for Dragic and a second-round pick.
