The time has finally come.

I’ve been screaming from the rooftops all year that The Knicks should have never lost focus of the rebuild that they started in the 2020 offseason.

But they did what had to be done after Julius Randle came out and showed the best version of himself in 2021.

I commend the front office for pivoting the way that they did this past summer, but it’s finally time for them to accept defeat, admit where they were wrong, and re-focus on what they should have been doing all along.

This team was meant to go young and to build around budding stars like RJ Barrett and of course, newly acquired Cam Reddish.

Which Vets do you think the Knicks will trade?

For months I’ve been saying how the plan was never about extending Julius Randle and that point could never have been made more clear than when one of the front office’s first moves was to draft his replacement 8th overall.

I’ll never forget the image of Leon Rose in the War Room with his hands up in the air above his head like he just drafted the second coming of Jordan.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN suggested that the Knicks are open to moving on from some of their veteran talents, such as Alec Burks, Kemba Walker, and Evan Fournier.

This is primarily due to the team trading a first-rounder for Cam Reddish 2 weeks ago and only being able to get him into the rotation.

Reddish has played a total of 15 minutes since being acquired which is unacceptable.

The writing was on the wall once the Reddish deal was made that there would be more trades to come, so this recent rumor solidifies that.

Ian Begley of SNY also reported that Julius Randle could be had if the price is right as well, and it may be the right time to part ways for both sides.

I don’t think anyone is too happy with the current situation, so an amicable parting of ways could benefit everyone involved.

The exciting news is that it seems damn near guaranteed that the Knicks are going to be making at least one big trade between now and the February 10th trading deadline, so buckle up, kiddos!

A trade or two would really open up the opportunities for guys like Quentin Grimes who has really come into his own as of late and of course, Cam Reddish who the team is looking to build around for the future.
