The next 4 potential NY Knicks trade targets this season
Should the NY Knicks trade for Myles Turner?
As I’ve previously mentioned, Myles Turner would have been first on this list had that recent report not come out about how the Pacers want two first-rounders in exchange for him.
If Leon Rose could work them down to accepting matching salaries and just one first-round pick, I’d be all for it.
No, as a whole, he’s not that much better than Mitchell Robinson. Mitch is certainly a better rebounder for starters.
And he’s a much more dangerous lob threat.
But Myles Turner does something Mitchell Robinson may never be able to do and that is shooting the three-ball.
At a high clip might I add.
While his overall percentage doesn’t look so great on paper, any and all Knicks fans can attest to the fact that the boy can in fact shoot.
That 33% on the year means nothing when he shot a career-high 7 three-pointers against the Knicks just a little while back.
It’s not just simply the fact that he can hit them at a high rate because he’s clearly shooting below league average.
But it’s more so the threat that he can hit them with general ease.
A stretch Center would open up lanes for RJ and Julius to drive into, and if they get stuffed in the paint, they can kick it out to any player that’s left out on the perimeter…including the Center position.
Now, in the last few days, Myles Turner suffered some sort of stress fracture on his foot and is expected to be out past the February 10th trade deadline.
This could severely impact Indiana’s asking price.
This sort of injury could take any of the ‘win now’ types of teams out of the race entirely as it would be too risky a move for them to give up any kind of assets for a guy who could potentially not be in the best shape come playoff time.
That would leave some of the re-building teams in the running, so for the Knicks to come with the best offer amongst far fewer teams would become a lot easier of a task.
We shall see.
