Should the NY Knicks trade for De’Aaron Fox?

That Myles Turner rumor really messed things up for my wanting the Knicks to trade for him.

So much so that I’d rather they break the bank for De’Aaron Fox than give up matching salaries plus two firsts for Turner.

It probably wouldn’t cost the Knicks more than 3 firsts for De’Aaron Fox who’s got a substantially higher ceiling than Myles Turner.

While I don’t necessarily see the Knicks making this move for Fox, they could be more in love with him than any of us truly know.

And knowing Leon Rose, he can get anyone he wants for matching salaries and a pick.

If Leon Rose wanted prime Michael Jordan, he could get him for a couple of firsts and Julius Randle somehow.

It should be of note that Knicks GM Scott Perry drafted De’Aaron Fox 5th overall back in 2017, just one month before coming over to New York.

Fox wasn’t viewed as a no-brainer pick at #5 back then, so Perry has done his homework when it comes to Fox.

The downside of a trade for De’Aaron Fox is that he’s not your traditional Point Guard in that he’s not going to pick apart and break down defenses with his passing.

He’ll get you 5-6 assists per game but primarily on kick-outs to the perimeter after driving to the basket.

But the Knicks already have a bunch of secondary ball-handlers and playmakers on the roster already, so maybe they can make do without a primary facilitator.

At least until they can find one in the near future.
