The Knicks made their first trade of the season last week when they acquired Cam Reddish from Atlanta and it doesn’t seem like they’re done making moves just yet.

Marc Berman of The NY Post recently reported that the front office has been in contact with Dallas regarding the availability of Jalen Brunson ahead of February 10th’s deadline.

"The Mavericks still haven’t afforded former Villanova point guard Jalen Brunson a contract extension and he has made another leap this season. As The Post has reported multiple times, the Knicks have had Brunson on their radar.Brunson’s father is Rick Brunson — Leon Rose’s initial client when he started his sports agency business out of Cherry Hill, N.J. Thibodeau has had the elder Brunson on his staff for years before he rejoined the Knicks. With “T-Day’’ approaching in 3 ¹/₂ weeks, the Mavericks are certainly capable of moving Brunson before the 2018 second-round pick becomes an unrestricted free agent. The Knicks already contacted the Mavericks sometime in the past about Brunson, an NBA source said.“They want him bad,’’ the NBA source said."

Now, I’m not sure if you’ve heard this before…but I’ve been a huge proponent of the Knicks trading for Brunson.

Knicks Rumors: Jalen Brunson on team’s radar via trade

I’ve published many an article about hypothetical trades I conjured up.

I think he has everything the Knicks need at the Point and can be with us for the long haul.

He just has so many ties to both the Knicks, the front office, and the coaching staff that I would believe any rumors about him coming to The Mecca from now until the day he hangs it up and retires.

Brunson is a local kid from New Jersey, his father Rick Brunson played for the Knicks…twice!

Rick Brunson was Leon Rose’s first client and Leon considers Jalen to be like a son to him.

Papa Brunson also served as an assistant coach for Thibs on both the Bulls and Timberwolves.

It just makes too much sense.

I’ll keep everyone here posted as it gets closer to the trade deadline if I hear any other big news but as inconsistent as Berman’s news has been over the years, he’s brought up the name Jalen Brunson maybe more than anyone else’s.

If Dallas can’t afford to re-sign the Villanova product, then perhaps ship him our way…
