New York Knicks Players Most Effected By Cam Reddish Trade
By James Ryder
How will Quentin Grimes be affected by Cam Reddish?
Grimes is the other most notable player who will be both judged and pitted against Cam Reddish for Tom Thibodeau’s attention.
While Reddish’s ceiling is much higher considering what success he’s seen in his third season and as a former lottery selection, he and Grimes are still very similar players.
The rookie Grimes has been exactly as advertised in limited run this season. His defense and three-point shooting are already paying off at this level.
Unfortunately, notice I mentioned he has not played very much.
This is of course in part due to the fact that he is a rookie but it has more to do with the fact that the Knicks have several players vying for minutes at shooting guard/small forward.
Grimes has seen many of his minutes due to the injuries and sickness of other Knicks.
He has specifically benefitted from a role in the rotation lately because he has taken the place of the sidelined Derrick Rose.
RJ Barrett, who is on fire at the moment, as well as Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, and Immanuel Quickley all need to have substantial roles.
Grimes is simply the odd man out now with Reddish in town, and that’s even with Rose not due to come back for many weeks.
As of right now, Reddish is a superior defender and just as good of if not a better shooter and more polished and proven offensive player.
His arrival should cause Grimes to return back to the bench on most nights.
Unless one of the aforementioned players is too traded away before the deadline, then Grimes will just have to wait his turn again for consistent playing time.
