New York Knicks Players Most Effected By Cam Reddish Trade
By James Ryder
How will Evan Fournier be affected by Cam Reddish?
This was the most obvious choice to me.
While Fournier has been much more helpful of late to the Knicks’ success (averaging 24 PPG in his last 3 games, all wins), he has still struggled mightily for most of this season.
Since Reddish can play at Fournier’s two-guard position, we may expect Fournier’s minutes to see a dip.
Fournier and Reddish would have a similar role in the offense. Both players are admired for their marksmanship from deep.
Neither should be expected to be higher in the team’s offensive totem pole than Julius Randle or RJ Barrett on most nights.
Each player will continue to assume a heavily off-ball role as they have throughout this season.
The main difference between them though is that Fournier should still be the third scoring option.
Despite his shortcomings, Fournier is still a very skilled veteran scorer who can at times be trusted with a large volume of ball handling and shooting.
Fournier’s seniority should be enough to save him from seeing a truly stark change to his role within the offense.
However, we have already seen how guys like Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley, and Alec Burks can be just as if not often more effective than the Frenchman in lesser roles.
If Reddish can shine as a spot shooter and tertiary scorer, then that, along with him being a far superior perimeter defender, can see him eat into many of Fournier’s minutes or even take over his role as starter entirely.
I expect the former scenario to be the most likely case, but you never know.
