Should the NY Knicks reunite with Tim Hardaway Jr?

Here, we have another one with the Mavericks. If the Knicks are going to offload Fournier sooner rather than later, I really think Dallas is the more likely destination.

With Bullock, Dwight Powell, Trey Burke, Josh Green, and Hardaway Jr. they have contracts that make sense to swap with the Knicks.

Tim Hardaway Jr. returns to New York for the third time here, as New York and Dallas swap sharpshooting disappointments. (It’s worth noting that Dallas has six former Knicks on the roster: Porzingis, Trey Burke, Reggie Bullock, Frank Ntilikina, Theo Pinson, and Hardaway Jr.)

New York would most likely have to throw in a pick here (Dallas would definitely love their 2023 first-rounder back), but depending on how the two continue playing, Dallas may want a different look and be fine with a clean swap.

There are other trade candidates that Fournier’s contract matches: Caris LeVert, Buddy Hield, Derrick White, Jerami Grant, and Myles Turner.

I think White is the most likely of these, but San Antonio still may be able to do better.

The way Fournier’s been playing, New York would have to throw in a lot of picks for any of those teams to bite – which New York may not think is worth it.

My prediction: New York benches Fournier and trades him during the offseason.

But they should start making those calls now.
