The New York Knicks should bench Evan Fournier as soon as possible.

It’s time.

Maybe it’s been time for a while now, but there is no time like the present.

The team needs to win now to save their season and get back in the playoff race, especially during this stretch where the schedule is very favorable.

If the Knicks want to build on their current two-game winning streak and right the ship, they need to make winning decisions now, and that should include limiting Fournier’s role.

By the way, we aren’t talking a Kemba Walker level benching.

The capabilities Fournier possesses on offense are still too valuable to take him out of the rotation entirely.

Should the New York Knicks bench Evan Fournier?

I definitely believe though that he and the team at large would be better off with him running with the second unit until he can start being more consistently good.

There are a couple of reasons for why I think this is the right move.

Number 1 being that Fournier has just simply had a mediocre season overall that has been riddled with several ugly performances. He is a detriment more often than he is helpful.

The second reason is because of the rise of one player in particular on the roster who can have a more significant impact in a starter’s role than Fournier currently does.

And lastly, Fournier’s offensive abilities are still good enough to allow for a great Knicks bench while also opening the door for a more defined game plan for the starters.

Naturally, let’s first discuss reason number one.
