New York Knicks players trending DOWN:

It has been a brutal stretch for Evan Fournier in his New York Knicks career thus far.

Fournier is able to string together a hot shooting spurt here and there but he has fallen well short of expectations from the preseason.

The whole narrative around Fournier going into the year would be that he was going to be a jolt of offense. A ball-handler who could not just take scoring responsibilities away from Julius Randle but add more playmaking and help shape the entire offense.

So far this season, at his best, Fournier has been a shooter. Except even his shooting percentages have taken a hit from their usual marks.

Sometimes he can take his man off the dribble, but more often than not he feels invisible on the court.

His offense is slow and rarely feels in tune with the players around him.

His passes are lazy, his effort on defense and off the ball are minimal, and his lack of assertiveness is something foreign to a team that made their living on hard work last season.

That assertiveness and urgency that I was talking about with Grimes, it’s the exact opposite with Fournier.

Evan Fournier isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean his playing time can’t decrease. There are other Knicks who are hungrier and are gunning for his spot in 2022.
