New York Knicks: 3 Reasons a big trade isn’t happening anytime soon
By Adam Kester
The New York Knicks are not all-in
We were spoiled last season.
Everything seemed to go right. The New York Knicks rarely had to deal with injuries in 2020-21 and it turned into a magical season that set a really high bar for 2021-22.
2021-22 has turned into a disappointing season as the team has seen regression in the efficiency stats of their individual players while their team record has suffered.
While criticism has been warranted, it’s not the end of the world.
We knew the Knicks weren’t going to compete for a title.
They haven’t gone all-in on with irrational decisions because they’ve sniffed winning basketball. There is no Andrea Bargnani trade going on here.
New York is in a good place with their roster construction. Almost all of the veterans becoming expiring contracts next season with third-year team options.
They have a nice pool of young talent.
They have a surplus of draft picks, including two extra first-round picks in the next two drafts.
This season may not be the result fans were looking for, but the Knicks are positioned for the future better than most teams of their level.
This team doesn’t need to make unnecessary moves.
