New York Knicks who could shine in 2022 — Kemba Walker

From being out of the rotation to becoming the team’s best player. That’s exactly who Kemba Walker has been this past week.

What were the preseason expectations for Kemba Walker?

He was going to come in and give the team more scoring and playmaking. He was going to come in and not be a superstar, but not an end-of-the-bench player either. He was coming in to be a secondary player.

Well, with Derrick Rose now out for potentially two months, Walker is going to be playing all of the time now.

I could keep breaking down Kemba’s game and how he handles the ball with more finesse than any other Knicks player right now, but this is more about his mentality and storyline thus far.

He is the only good storyline right now.

I get it, that Kemba is a limited player. He is absolutely a liability as a defender. He’s small and struggles to keep up with bigger guards, but it’s all due to physical limitations.

It has nothing to do with effort.

Watch these Knicks games. Look at Kemba Walker clapping his hands, barking out instructions, pointing to himself when it’s his bad, giving effort 100% of the time.

His energy level is something that other starters do not have.

When his teammates are doing well, he was cheering them on, even when he was being benched.

His leadership and energy are going to be big in 2022.
