The New York Knicks reportedly have interest in the veteran sharpshooter
The New York Knicks defeated the Houston Rockets 116-103 on Thursday night to snap their 4-game losing streak, showing flashes of tough defense and three-point shooting prowess reminiscent of last season’s 41-31 team.
While New York still holds an unsightly 13-16 record to slot them in the Eastern Conference’s 12th seed, they’re only 1.5 games back from the 7th place Washington Wizards with over 50 contests left to play.
The team could easily put themselves back in the playoff picture by going on a run, and a trade could help them do that. The Knicks reportedly have an interest in acquiring Rockets guard Eric Gordon via trade.
The 33-year old has still been effective in his 14th NBA season, but he’s no longer a fit on a Houston team that is clearly trying to rebuild. Gordon holds career averages of 16.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He could provide a boost for a Knicks team that ranks just 23rd in scoring and 15th in offensive rating.
He likely wouldn’t command a massive return due to his age and fairly large contract, which could help New York acquire him while saving their major assets for a larger deal. There would be some obvious benefits and potential drawbacks of adding Eric Gordon to this current Knicks team. Here are the major pros and cons of acquiring him in a trade.
