NY Knicks: 3 trades for Pacers not named Myles Turner
Should the NY Knicks look to deal for Jeremy Lamb?
So a trade for Jeremy Lamb wouldn’t make as much sense for the Knicks as it would other teams that are competing for a title.
But let’s entertain this for a second.
A legit title contender that’s in need of depth on the wing and scoring would be wise to trade for Lamb as he’s on an expiring deal.
He seems like a very typical trade target for a team like the Lakers, Bucks, or Nets to send a late first-rounder out for in exchange for his services for just the second half of the season and postseason.
But, if the best of the best teams in the league aren’t that interested in Lamb, perhaps the Knicks could kick the tires.
Lamb is having a down year this season so there’s no chance the Knicks give up a first-rounder for him.
So instead, the Pacers take Kemba Walker and two 2nd round picks.
Kemba unfortunately has likely played his last games as a Knick but because he’s handling the situation like the true professional he is, I’m sure he has a huge say in where he ends up.
It would be borderline cruel for the Knicks to send him to a team that’s clearly looking to rebuild, so perhaps the front office works out a deal with a third team to get another 2nd rounder or two in exchange for Kemba and sends those picks to Indiana in place of Walker.
Getting 3 to 4 draft picks, albeit picks in the 2nd round of a few drafts, is still great value for a guy on an expiring contract like Lamb who Indiana could just lose for nothing.
Teams like the Lakers and Clippers could use a Kemba Walker, amongst plenty of other teams chasing a title this season.
The more I think it over, the more I think this kind of deal would make sense for all teams involved.
