NY Knicks: 3 trades for Pacers not named Myles Turner
Should the NY Knicks bring back Justin Holiday?
Who says no to a Justin Holiday reunion?
He’ll always be the one the Knicks let get away…I’ll never forgive Phil Jackson for a number of reasons, but one of them is certainly choosing to re-sign Ron Friggin’ Baker over Justin Holiday.
But I digress.
Holiday may cost the Knicks a bit more than a trade for Torrey Craig would, but it would be worth the added cost.
Holiday is a plus wing defender, shoots the 3-ball well, and can facilitate a bit when asked.
Again, if Thibs is dead set on utilizing Alec Burks as his ‘point guard’ this season, filling his spot on the bench with Justin Holiday would only benefit the team.
This deal again ships Kevin Knox over to the rebuilding Pacers along with two second-rounders in exchange for Justin Holiday.
As far as value contracts go, Holiday gives the Knicks a great bang for their buck. He’s averaging just shy of 10 points per game for just $6 million per season.
This move is small enough to not be considered a ‘win now’ move but if the front office truly believes that the Knicks can compete in the playoffs this year, having the Holiday brother around can’t hurt.
He’d likely be replacing Alec Burks off the bench as the ‘small forward’ and could provide a similar pop to what the Knicks were used to with Burks.
He could also be traded for in a deal for Myles Turner but the front office would have a harder time matching the salaries without giving up pieces they’d likely want to keep.
