New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors: Betting Odds and Prediction
Man…times have been pretty rough for the New York Knicks and their fans as of late.
Ever since their dominant win against Atlanta back on November 27th, things have been pretty awful.
While they’ve had some good showings, most notably against the Brooklyn Nets on November 30th, since their game against the Hawks the Knicks have only managed to secure just 1 win.
That’s good for a record of 1 and 6 for those who are counting.
And from a betting perspective, it doesn’t get a whole lot better either…
After starting the season as one of the best teams against the spread through their first 10 games, the Knicks have covered in only 3 out of their last 7 games.
With a potential record-breaking evening by the Warriors’ Steph Curry on the docket tonight, I don’t think the Knicks’ luck will be changing anytime soon.
As most may know, Steph is just two shy of the record for career 3-pointers made, and of course, he’ll be doing so within the confines of Madison Square Garden.
Everyone loves playing here and breaking all types of records, which ultimately kinda just embarrasses the Knicks most of the time.
Here’s your betting preview for the New York Knicks game tonight
As per WynnBet, the Warriors are favored at -4.5 and -190 on the moneyline whereas the Knicks are a +165 underdog.
The Over/Under started at 211 but is on the move upwards as over 70% of the money is on the Over.
As it stands while this is being written, the O/U is at 212.
Prediction: The Knicks are going to do their best to play spoilers for the Warriors on Steph’s special evening.
There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to break Ray Allen’s record tonight, but maybe Thibs gameplans a way to neutralize Steph and prevent him from also winning the game for Golden State.
Golden State is the 2nd best team in the league at covering their spreads with a record of 17-9-1 while the Knicks are now one of the worst at covering this season with a record of 11-16.
They’re 3rd worst in the league to be exact.
Surprisingly enough, Golden State leads the league in ‘Under’ percentage, doing so 73.1% of the time even though they’ve got the 4th best offensive rating in the league at 111.7.
That’s just a testament to how good they are on the defensive side as well.
The Knicks are around the middle of the pack. and have an Under percentage of 55.6%.
Final Verdict: The Knicks haven’t played since Sunday afternoon while the Warriors just played last night in Indiana.
I think the rest factor is being taken too much into consideration with the spread here, as the Warriors should be favored by much more than just 4.5 points.
That said, even though it seems a bit fishy, I gotta go with the Warriors in this one, easily covering the spread.
Regarding the Over/Under, as I mentioned earlier, both teams go ‘Under’ more often than not so it’s puzzling why the entire planet thinks this game is going under.
Golden State -4.5 is the safe play, but if you wanna get a little risky and parlay the O/U…I’m going with the Under and fading the public.
